Winter Solstice

At 13:31 CET (12:31 UTC) today the Earths tilt caused the Sun to reach the lowest point above the horizon, on the norther hemisphere, in the year-long cycle (actually the year defining cycle). In other words, today is the shortest day of the year.

In Stockholm we’ll have less than six hours of daylight today, which is quite depressing. On the other hand from now on, and until the Summer Solstice (and with it, Midsummer) days will become increasingly longer.
