2005, Here I come
It’s hard to summarize an entire year in a few paragraphs, but I’ll do my best.
Personally what started as a pretty dull and uneventful year quickly turned out to be quite interesting and fulfilling. Sure, it evolved almost exclusively around work, but never the less. I’ve been to quite a few places during the past twelve months, some of which I never imaged I would see (Laos and Pakistan). At the end of the summer I bought a power boat, to cruise the Stockholm archipelago. Unfortunately the Summer weather was exceptionally poor but still, it has already given me a lot of great moments.
Internet wise it’s been a quite interesting year; The Mozilla foundation launched Firefox 1.0 - and it’s success exceeded all expectations. Companies have started to grasp the possibility and advantages provided by web applications, for instance Yahoo bought OddPost and Google unveiled Gmail and Google Suggest.
Overall more and more web sites and applications have (finally) begun to focus more and more on using DHTML to enhance the usability and perception, rather than just the looks.
Things are shaping up nicely and 2005 should prove to be an even better year!
Anyway, I’m of to enjoy a nice dinner, a good cigar and a few bottles of Champagne with some of my friends. See you next year!
